I’m ALWAYS playing with hot chocolate recipes… I mean, who doesn’t love a hot chocolate on a cold winter’s night? I’m still trying to be wrap my head around healthy eating again after being pregnant and binging on anything that was vaguely edible so i’m looking for things that satisfy that sweet craving and make me feel like i’m eating something naughty even though i’m not. Its also been freezing this last few weeks and we’ve all been plagued with colds and coughs so this Superfood Hot Chocolate is perfect! The bee pollen gives it added protein, plus sweetness. Cinnamon is great for lowering blood sugar and also has a healthy boost of antioxidants. The turmeric is anti inflammatory and the raw cacao is bursting with vitamins, minerals and antioxidants…. What’s not to love?
one cup of rice milk (or whatever milk you like)
1 Tbs raw cacao
Pinch of cinnamon
1 tbs bee pollen
Pinch cayenne pepper
Blend all of the ingredients together (i use a nutribullet) and then warm through. You don’t want to overheat the hot chocolate otherwise you’ll lose all the health boosting properties of this drink.
Pour into your favourite big mug and top with a little extra bee pollen.
